Exploration of Space, my favourite repeat track whenever I’m feeling down. It hasn’t happened (yet) but I almost feel like I remember having this dropped, the tinglyness of my fingers and toes when I’m peaking, the non-stop jumping up and down and that satisfying ache you carry with you for the next couple of days.
#rediscovery
I was at Kinokuniya the other day, starting on my Christmas shopping when I stumbled across Sisterhood Everlasting, the final Sisterhood of the Travelling Pants book. I started reading them when I was a teenager (i.e a lifetime ago) and even though I am well outside the intended demographic, I bought the book. And read it in one sitting on the train home. And then burst into tears, two stops from home.
The series is about four best friends, one of whom is named Carmen. Back then, that was enough of a draw for me - but the books turned out to be surprisingly good and to be honest, I have cried in every single one of them. And I still read them when I’m feeling sentimental about my friends.
In this penultimate book, one of the four dies.
…..
And I guess I got off that train a little bit more appreciative of the people in my life, and a little more forgiving of the people who aren’t.
#stereosonic
Pouring rain turning into a brilliant, sunny day. Meeting at Alex’s for lunch and prep. No security? Overpriced water. (Overpriced everything, actually.) Main stage. Kaskade. Avicii. Man down. Naps and seizures. DASH. BERLIN. (Disarm Yourself. Sun and Moon. Reverie. Not Giving Up On Love.) Armin Van Buuren (second time this year!).
Train home.
One of the best days this year.

It’s going to be SO FUCKING AMAZING.
#makeup
After an earlier post agonising about the difficulties of being a girl, I went out with one of my girlfriends and she helped me start my make-up collection. Things I now own -
- witch hazel (which is apparently a great toner)
- foundation (liquid)
- foundation (powder)
- eyeshadow (gel; I already own a pencil)
- blush (powder)
- mascara
- eyeshadow
- lipstick (bright red, pink)
as well as
- a blush brush
- a foundation (liquid) brush
- a foundation (powder) brush
- a comb (“Are you telling me you don’t brush your hair?”
“Not for the last six months.”
“Wow, it actually looks really good considering.”
“I know, right? Who needs hair brushes!”
“….. you should still probably get one.”
“I know.”
… and to be honest, I didn’t buy it, I found it in my house and claimed it as my own.)
I think I’ll probably take some time to work my way up to MAC and Chanel, but hey, you gotta start somewhere, even if it’s five years too late.
#bruschetta
After an hour on an un-conditioned train to work, eight hours at work with the air conditioner broken and another hour home on another un-conditioned train, getting home, putting my AC on full blast and digging into some home-made bruschetta (diced tomatoes, mixed with basil and a spinach dip) plus a goblet of ice cold water?
Bliss.
Also: last night, we nailed out the accomodation for Phuket, Chiangmai and Bangkok as well as all the connecting flights. Now we just need to book attractions (some of which can wait til we’re in the country)! Michael and I also need to book Vietnam, and I also need to book Philippines so we’re far from done but it feels good to get Thailand out of the way.

Listening to trance with my Beats, reading 1Q84 and a late start tomorrow morning.
Love it.
